.about
West Texas Native American Association
West Texas Native American Association was formed in February 1991 with four goals in mind:

1. To provide fellowship to all Native Americans and interested non-Native Americans in Lubbock and the surrounding area.
2. To educate and raise public awareness regarding Native Americans in our area.
3. To preserve Native American Culture
4. To promote traditional ways of conservation.

Membership:

Membership consists of registered tribal members, people of Native American descent who are not registered, and non-Natives who have a genuine interest in and respect for the Native American Culture.

The Association was chartered by the State of Texas in March 1995, as a non-profit organization. Although the Association strives to educate the general public about Native Culture and tradiiton, we are not a protest group. Each person has a right to form and express his or her own opinion, but not speak for the whole association.

Association meetings are held on the second Saturday night of each month at 7:00 PM.  New Location to be announced. The Board of Directors meet one hour before each meeting.

Some of our recent activities included: Decision on Powwow Site, Induction of new members , and Arena Director Fabian Galvan chosen for this years Powwow. We  had Craft Night on January 21st and March 3rd.  On May 5th, we had a huge benefit garage sale and raised funds for the powwow and educational purposes.  May 12th, elections were held and leadership remains the same with the exception being the induction of Michael Kirkwood as Vice President.
