.What We Do
West Texas Native American Association participates in many activities. We attend other Pow-Wows, and hold several hands on demonstrations, such as Native Bead Working, etc. Guest speakers attend througout the year, and some of the topics discussed have been on the Native People of Alaska, Black Native Americans, Bios of Native American Warriors, Native Cooking, Native Headdress, Flint Making, Native Plants and much more. It is amazing the things one can learn by attending the monthly meetings.
We hold annual Membership Drives at an appointed times. This is the opportunity to introduce West Texas Native American Association to those interested in learning more, and perhaps joining by becoming a valued member. For those interested in membership, please read a portion of our Membership By-Laws.
Membership By-Laws are as follows:
Anyone who chooses to become a member may qualify in one of the following ways:
Native American or Non-Native American.
To qualify as a Native American Member, an individual must be at least one sixteenth or a registered member of a Native American Tribe.
Non-Native American spouses and children are automatically eligible for membership with their Native American family member.
Non-Native Americans who choose to become members must be voted in after attending at least two meetings. Voting will be done by adult members over the age of eighteen. Membership will be obtained by a majority of the vote.
Neither Native American nor Non-Native American individuals can obtain membership without payment of dues in full.
Dues are as follows:
Family (immediate) $ 25.00
Single Adult $ 15.00
Student $ 7.50
Dues will be paid annually by May 1st. Any member thirty days delinquent of payment of dues, shall have their membership terminated. After termination, reinstatement of membership must be voted on by the officers of the Association upon payment of dues. This applies to Native Americans and Non-Native Americans.
